Check out another Beatles tutorial at https://youtu.be/HjGdj8R-09Y "Hey Jude".
"Let It Be” was released by the Beatles March 1970 as a single and the title track of their album Let It Be. At the time, it had the highest debut on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 6. It was written and sung by Paul McCartney. It was their final single before McCartney announced his departure from the band. In 1987, the song was recorded by charity supergroup Ferry Aid (which included McCartney). It reached number 1 on the UK Singles Chart for three weeks and reached the top ten in many other European countries.
McCartney said he had the idea of "Let It Be" after he had a dream about his mother during the tense period surrounding the sessions for The Beatles (also know as “the White Album") in 1968. He said: "It was great to visit with her again." (She had died of cancer when he was 14) "I felt very blessed to have that dream. So that got me writing 'Let It Be’. He also said in another interview about the dream that his mother had told him, "It will be all right, just let it be.” According to McCartney, the song's reference to "Mother Mary" was not a biblical reference. (The words "let it be" are a direct quote from the Prayer of the Annunciation, Mary's response to the Angel Gabriel in Luke 1:38.) When asked if the song referred to the Virgin Mary, McCartney has typically answered the question by assuring his fans that they can interpret the song however they would like.
In 2010, Rolling Stone magazine placed "Let It Be" at number 8 on the Beatles' 100 Greatest Songs.Mojo magazine ranked it at number 50 in a similar list, compiled in 2006. AllMusic said it was one of "the Beatles' most popular and finest ballads".
"Let It Be" holds the top spot on "The Fans' Top 10" poll included in The 100 Best Beatles Songs: An Informed Fan's Guide by Stephen J. Spignesi and Michael Lewis. The song is ranked third on the 100 Best Beatles Songs list, behind "A Day in the Life" and "Strawberry Fields Forever".

Ukuleles on Netflix: Friday Links
Howlin’ Hobbit has had his ukulele stolen. It’s a custom Glyph soprano ukulele. It’s a one of a kind so if you spot it get in touch with him. It looks like this but with more wear.
Ukuleles on Netflix
I’ve watched a few movies featuring ukuleles to various degrees (they’re all on US Netflix because that’s the only good one). If you’ve got any other suggestions leave them in the comments. In decreasing order of ukulele-centricity:
– Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings: I was worried there was going to be too much Jake-talk (“If everyone played the ‘ukulele there’d be no war” and that) but there’s very little of that and a lot more of Jake’s personal life than I was expecting. Being so personal it gets his philosophy on music across much more effectively than his speeches. I’m not the biggest Jake fan but I really enjoyed the movie and found it very affecting towards the end.
– Austin to Boston: Ben Lovett off of the Mumfords takes a bunch of folky acts on the road: The Staves, Ben Howard, Bear’s Den, Nathaniel Rateliff and Gill Landry (off of Old Crow Medicine Show). Being hipsters, they do it in the most impractical way possible. There are some great bits but it’s very frustrating. Lots lovely music interrupted by pretentious jibberjabber. I don’t know why you’d talk all over The Staves telling us how good their harmonies are when you could just shut up and let us hear it for ourselves. Worth it if you’re not a fan of the new folkies. Otherwise steer clear.
– The Dirties: I loved this film. If you’re into low-budget indie movies I recommend watching it without reading anything about it. Other than the fact that Kate and Janelle pop up for a quick ukulele cameo.

"You're a Grand Old Flag” was written by George M. Cohan. It was first performed in February 1906 and became the first song from a musical to sell more than one million copies of printed sheet music - no iTunes downloads in the 1910s!
The title and first lyric comes from someone Cohan once met. According to the Library of Congress website:

Easy Ukulele Song Greensleeves by 21 Songs in 6 Days: Learn Ukulele the Easy Way
Elliott Smith – Waltz #2 (XO) (Chords)
Elliott Smith – Waltz #2 (XO) (Chords)
Two things prompted me to do this one: tbone rightly chided me for not having done any Elliott Smith yet and my favourite ever episode of Roderick on the Line.
Suggested Strumming
This strum will see you all the way through the song:
d – – u d u
With the intro you need to miss out the down strum on the first bar. So it starts with u d u. You can follow that with the main strum. But I like to do alternate bars of d u – u d u. So that makes the strumming for the very start of the song:
u d u
d – – u d u
d u – u d u
d – – u d u
d u – u d u
Which sounds like this:
Twiddly Bits
That’s followed by this little riff which crops up throughout the song:
Here’s how that sounds against the chords (played on another uke):

Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head Easy Ukulele Songs by 21 Songs in 6 Days
http://youtu.be/pw3ewZPjiI0 Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head Easy Ukulele Songs by 21 Songs in 6 Days: Learn Ukulele the Easy Way
"Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" was written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach for the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The film version featured a separate instrumental break where Paul Newman did stunts on a bicycle.
Ray Stevens and Bob Dylan both turned down offers to record the song.
In 2004, it finished at #23 on AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema. In 2008, the single was ranked 85th on Billboard's Hot 100 All-Time Top Songs and placed 95th in the 55th Anniversary edition of the All-Time Hot 100 list in 2013.
On December 3, 2013, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced that the single would be inducted into the 2014 Grammy Hall Of Fame.
"Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" was used in the film Spy Hard, which parodied the scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It is also on the soundtracks to Forrest Gump and Spider-Man 2. It was used in the Kevin Smith film Clerks II. The first episode of the second season of the popular medical drama Grey's Anatomy is named after the song. It is also used in The Simpsons, episode 16 of the fourth season, called Duffless, at the end of the episode, while credits are presented. It was also used in the 2003 film "The In-Laws" starring Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks, which was a remake of the 1979 Peter Falk / Alan Arkin film.

http://youtu.be/FO0QJkPS2ac Heart and Soul Easy Ukulele Songs by 21 Songs in 6 Days: Learn Ukulele the Easy Way
Here's Jenny's lesson on a real evergreen song that sounds great on ukulele.
"Heart and Soul" has music by Hoagy Carmichael and lyrics by Frank Loesser. It was first published in 1938. The original 1938 version was performed by Larry Clinton & his Orchestra featuring Bea Wain. In 1939, three versions charted: Larry Clinton (reaching #1 on the chart), Eddy Duchin (reaching #12), and Al Donahue (reaching #16).
Then in the 1950's the song hit the charts again. It was #11 in 1952 by The Four Aces with the Jack Pleis Orchestra, and #57 in 1956 by Johnny Maddox.
It returned in 1961. Talk about staying power! two different cover versions charted in 1961, with The Cleftones reaching #18 and Jan and Dean reaching #25. Many covers have been recorded and it has been used in advertisements.

Greensleeves was first popular in 16th century England. In a play by William Shakespeare, the character Falstaff says, “Let the sky rain potatoes! Let it thunder to the tune of 'Greensleeves’!” Many people believe that King Henry VIII composed Greensleeves during his courtship of Anne Boleyn. Although Henry was an accomplished composer and the lyrics of this song seem to tell the story of their romance, the musical style of the piece dates from after Henry’s death.

Five Foot Two Easy Ukulele Song by 21 Songs in 6 Days: Learn Ukulele the...
"Has Anybody Seen My Girl? (Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue)" is was first popular in the 1920s. Sometimes it is called, "Has Anybody Seen My Girl?" and sometimes simply, "Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue.” Lucille Ball played “Five Foot Two” on the ukulele in an episode of I Love Lucy.
In Five Foot Two we’re introducing the strumming pattern of “Down, Down-Up, Up-Down-Up” . Both "Five Foot Two" and "Auld Lang Syne" are great songs for learning this strumming pattern. Our lesson on Auld Lang Syne is at https://youtu.be/-YnoIy5pgVA
The “Down, Down-Up, Up-Down-Up” pattern is used a lot of currently popular music, including Israel Kamakawiwo'ole’s cover of "Over the Rainbow Here’s a link to a lesson on how to play "Over the Rainbow" Izzy style. https://youtu.be/YznUjC8pnUQ And here's a link to video to practice lots of strumming patterns: https://youtu.be/0wLKsfhVN9Y

Ukulele Videos of the Year So Far
We’re coming up to the halfway point of the year so time for roundup of the best ukulele videos of 2015 so far. It’s turning into another vintage year for ukulele music so I had a nightmare time trying to get the list down to a reasonable length. In the end I’ve tried to represent the incredible breadth of ways the ukulele is being used these days.
YouTube is going all out to make itself impossible to use. With being capricious about which videos they show from subscriptions and turning off RSS feeds it’s been harder to keep up. So if I’ve missed something leave a link in the comments and I’ll check it out.

twenty one pilots – We Don’t Believe What’s on TV (Chords)
twenty one pilots – We Don’t Believe What’s On TV (Chords)
I’ve been a bit on the fence about twenty one pilots. But I’ve been looking for some good old ukulele punk pop since The King Blues called it a day and We Don’t Believe What’s on TV fits the bill very nicely.
The are some chord inversions in the song you might not be familiar with. I’ve written them up the way I think he’s playing them. But feel free to use inversions that are more familiar like your prefered way of playing E or the 0100 version of A7. If you’re using the chord charts as written remember that the fret number at the top right of some of the diagrams indicates the fret the diagram starts on. For example, the E7 starts with a barre at the fourth fret (not the first).
Suggested Strumming
You can use this as the main strum:
d – d – d u d u
The ‘Tros and the Verses: One main strum each for F#m and E. Then twice for A except the ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’ bits. There do the main strum once, then one down strum. Then either stop or do three down muted strums.
Bridges: Main strum twice for each chord.
Chorus: Just one down strum per chord.
Twiddly Bits
He uses this nice little run at the start of each line in the slowed down version:
After that you go to F#m as usual.

In 1940, folk singer Woody Guthrie grew tired of hearing Kate Smith sing, "God Bless America” on the radio because he thought it was smug and unrealistic. So he composed the lyrics to a song he called "God Blessed America,” which eventually becameThis Land is Your Land. The song was first recorded in 1944, and copyrighted in 1951. It was revived during the 1960’s and has been recorded by artists including Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger, and the Kingston Trio.
